Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN ASSOCIATION to promote the reputation and define and maintain the standards of workmanship of automatic transmission rebuilders will hold its inaugural meeting on February 7, 1978.

The association is to be called FATE — the Federation of Automatic Transmission Engineers — and its first meeting will be at the Albany Hotel, Birmingham.

Founder members of FATE were Ernst Wernhartd, of _Ernst Wernhartd Ltd, Mitcham, and Guy Carver from Carver Bros Automatic Gearboxes Ltd, based at Stockport.

These two met last summer to discuss the need for such an organisation, and since then a working party comprising 12 delegates from within the UK has had monthly meetings to set up FATE.

The federation also hopes to provide both technical and magerial information aimed at helping members, most of whom are likely to be small firms.

The federation is open to any firms engaged in rebuilding, servicing or supplying components for automatic transmissions.

Those wishing to attend the inaugural meeting should contact the chairman of the working party, Alan Ward, at 79 Oswald Road, Manchester.
