Jack E.. Cooke has been promoted to chief engineer of Atkinson Vehicles Ltd. His responsibilities include control of all design office, tracing and technician manual sections, experimental and research departments. and the new quality control unit. Before joining Atkinson in 1956. Mr. Cooke held positions both at Leyland Motors and Maudslay's in Alcester, rising from an engineering apprenticeship at Charley through the various drawing offices. Since coming to Preston, he specialized in various aspects of design work, including transmissions and heavy tractor frames, before taking over control of the drawing office in 1965.

H. G. Priest has been appointed commercial manager and A. E. Searle distribution manager of Castrol's UK oil production and distribution division.

R. L. Blows has been appointed operations manager of Harold Wood and Sons Ltd., Heckmondwike. Mr. Blows has been traffic manager of T. Wall and Sons Ltd., company transport manager of Industrial Freight and Travel Ltd. and associated companies, joint managing director of G. and L. Baldwin Ltd., and col/many transport manager, Security Express Ltd.

Borten ('Pete') Garfield, general manager of Eaton Axles Ltd., Warrington, for the past four years, has completed his assignment in the UK, and is to return to the USA to assIne fresh responsibilities, initially in the international engineering operations of the Eaton Axle Division, Eaton Yale & Towne Inc. Arthur Makin has succeeded him as general manager of Eaton Axles with effect from January 1, and has been made a director of the company. Mr. Makin joined Eaton in 1952, becoming chief designer in 1958 and chief engineer in 1962. He serves on the committee of the North Western centre, automobile division, of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and is a member of the American Society of Automotive Engineers.

W. F. Greenstreet, E. S. Tye and F. R. Madell have been appointed directors of Ripaults Ltd.

D. S. Teague and M. F. Levey have been appointed principal executive assistants in the office of the London Transport publicity officer.
