As well as the road test of the Bedford KM 16-ton-gross rigid (pages 46-49) the tractive unit version has also been on test. This will be reported upon fully in a forthcoming issue, but for comparison with this week's test we pub lish the following extracts from the results: Fully laden to the 22 tons gross rating, a fuel consumption of 8.75 m.p.g. was obtained at an average of 33.6 m.p.h. on trunk running and 8.35 m.p.g. at 42.1 m.p.h average on a motorway run. Comparable figures unladen were 13.5 m.p.g. at 35.6 m.p.h. and 9.45 m.p.g. at 50.6 m.p.h.

Maximum speed was 65 m.p.h. Laden, acceleration from 0-30 m.p.h. took 41.2 sec. and with low ratio of the two-speed axle engaged a direct-drive acceleration produced a time of 58.5 sec. from 10-30 m.p.h.
