QOME 330 members and guests k--/ attended the annual dinner and dance held by the Scottish Centre of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers in Glasgow, last Saturday. The centre chairman, Mr. J. McIntosh, who presided, commented on the general success of the Institute, and particularly of the Scottish Centre, which had over 100 members.

Mr. J. Amos, 0.B.E., now managing nationalized passenger road transport in Scotland, congratulated the centre on the fine show it was making and expressed the view that the Institute was performing a most useful function.

Mr. G. Mackenzie Junner, president, emphasized the harmony and good fellowship which existed between the members and on the council, and referred to notable incidents in the history of the Institute. He also said that the journal was in future to be published three times yearly, partly as a result of the sound financial position. The Scottish Centre, he added, had made history with this function, which, in numbers present, had beaten the headquarters dinner in London.

He presented to the centre honorary secretary, Mr. W. Martin, on behalf of the Scottish section, a miniature grandfather clock for his excellent work.

The Metropolitan and South Eastern Area of the Road Haulage Association -is to hold its annual banquet at Grosvenor House. Park Lane, London, on March 27.
