Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TAKING over the duties formerly carried out by the solicitors to each region of the Railway Executive, the London Transport Executive, the Tilling Association and the Docks and Inland Waterways Executive, a legal service has been established by the British Transport. Commission to perform the legal work of the B.T.C. and all Executives other than that which has been undertaken by private firms on behalf of certain Executives.

The Commission's legal service came into effect on January 2. Mr. M. H. B. Gilmour is the chief solicitor to the' Commission and is in charge of the service, with his office at Easton Station, London, N.W.I. His deputy is Mn R. P. Humphrys. The following divisions have been established:— Parliamentary and General: assistant chief solicitor, Mr. H. A. Chapman: Litigation and Prosecutions, assistant chief solicitor, Mr. R. .Chitty; Conveyancing, assistant chief solicitor, Mr. E. Coleby.

Mr. S. G. Jones is legal adviser to the London Transport Executive and Mr. G. W. Quick Smith continues to act as secretary and legal adviser to the Road Haulage Executive.
