• The Channel Tunnel will be three months late in opening, but hauliers can expect a full freight service from day one, according to Eurotunnel.
The freight shuttle trains and through trains are due to operate at full capacity from the end of next summer: there has been talk of delays in the provision of a full freight shuttle service.
The three-month delay caused by a slow down in its construction will also allow Eurotunnel to convert more of its semi-open freight shuttles to a closed design — the open design has been slammed by safety experts as a fire risk.
