Several European bodybuilders exhibited simple urban distribution demount-body systems, which were reminiscent of Ray Smith's more complicated Metroswap arrangement.
There were examples from Jos Visser's Ray Smith mounted City Box and Renova's City System, but Deckers of Leiden showed off its own concept for working between distribution centres and high streets.
Using a simple demount system suitable for both drawbar and 3.5-tonne chassis cabs, the 3.88m insulated or dry freight bodies, made by its subsidiary Deckers-Van Stenis, are designed to help cut urban traffic congestion.
As an environmental ploy Deckers has worked with electric vehicle manufacturer Spijkstaal to develop a chassis-cab capable of lugging a single City box around town cheaply and without noise or exhaust pollution.
