Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

45mph. I have had the front wheels balanced, but this has not eliminated the vibration. Is there any other reason why my vehicle should behave in this manner?

A No matter how well the front wheels are balanced the vibration will not be completely cured unless other defects are put right.

First, it is essential to ensure that the vibration is in fact caused by the wheels. Drivers often confuse vibration from, say, a worn propshaft UJ which shakes the whole vehicle, with wheel imbalance.

If it is definitely wheel shake and the balance has been checked, the front shock absorbers should be examined for wear and security. Should these be found to be in order the location of the axle and the amount of wear on shackle pins and bushes should be checked as well as all steering-ball joints, kingpins and bushes and the steering box itself. Any excessive wear should be eliminated.
