Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Changing gear is simple though at first using the range/splitter button while simultaneously shifting the gear-lever is a bit cumbersome.

Splitting the gear on the button only is made easier because it can be done without using the clutch. A slick change down, for instance, simply requires preselecting the low split and then blipping the throttle to relieve the drive-line torque for the lower gear to engage.

The large diameter steering wheel, which is characteristic, of the 2800 range, provides precise control regardless of vehicle direction.

Vehicle ride is also good with even the poorly surfaced stretches of A68, which is undergoing a partial re-modelling to iron out the kinks, being covered in fine style.

The 2800 range has been around for around three years and the attributes of the large, spacious cab have already been well covered. However, compared with the number of new models that have been announced, especially during the past year, the dash layout in the DKS looks dated.

The large Steering wheel obviously rules out the possibility of fitting column-mounted minor controls, but clearer labelling of existing switches would make the drivers lot easier.

These minor criticisms, however, do not detract from the overall good impression of a very comfortable cab and a vehicle that is easy to drive.

As tested, the OAF Fr2800 DKS costs £14,694 including 0550 for the sliding fifth-wheel and around £80 for the spot and fog lights and radio.
