DRIVERS' wages rose by 10.1 per cent in the six months from March to September last year, according to a Freight Transport Association report out this week.
The average wage went up to £60.74 or £1.29 per hour, but the wages paid to drivers varied over the country with those in London getting more than some others.
The report also covers drivers on journeys into Europe and says that the rates paid are generally similar to those paid to domestic drivers, but that the amounts paid were higher because of the longer hours. Allowances were also more generous for Continental drivers.
