Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Atco motor mower was introduced in 1921, since when over 2,500 have been produced. In place of a single 22-in. model, three models are being made this year, with 16-in., 22-in., and 30-in, cutters, the two new sizes being adopted so that the requirements of every class of potential purchaser can be met.

The latest machines are equipped with a new device called the Atco turf cultivator, which has been designed by Chas. H. Pugh, Ltd., Tilton, Srnall. Heath, Birmingham, after consultation

with the leading turf experts. It is simple in construction and action, and consists of a shaft, fitted with spikes set radially at 1-in. intervals. It is located in front of the circular cutter of the machine, and can be adjusted independently of the cutter throughout a range from clear of the ground to a depth which enables the spikes to enter a quarter of an inch into the turf. The shaft revolves at high speed, and in doing so acts as a rotary rake or weighted harrow, the theory being that since the grass breathes through its blades and roots, and as the roots are kept closely compressed -With their blades during the playing season, some compensation is necessary if the grass is to thrive during the spring.

The Atco turf cultivator not only makes this operation simple, but, also enables plantains and weeds to be pulled up, loosens moss, has a levelling effect on turf, and makes ooarkie grass fine. Another interesting development is the Atco turf edge trimmer, a hand-operated instrument with a continuous cut.

The Atco service depots are again preparing for an extensive campaign of demonstrations on the lawns of potential customers, whilst the celerity with which the replaCing of parts can be effected and repairs made will again be a big feature of the activities of the depots.

, The Acfo mower is a very simple machine, embodying a small but powerful single-cylinder two-stroke dower unit, with a flywheel magneto. This drives a countershaft through the medium of a roller chain, and the countershaft, in turn, drives the main roller. At the other side of the roller is a chain which turns the blades.
