Bank, Rochdale for correct answers to the Hawk's competition about the first bus ever and its route (CM 15-21 November). The bus was manufactured by Benz in 1895 and operated in Germany on the route Siegen, Netphen and Deuz. Alan adds that it was an "eight-seater used between railway stations and hotels". It was just a mere 10 years further on when CM was around to tell the tale.
