• Male drivers have had to be taken on for an experimental women-only minibus operation in Bradford following a lack of response from females drivers (CM 23-29 November 1989).
Three of the seven drivers operating the door-to-door Home Runner service are men.
The service, which was due to run for a year to November 1990, has been extended to March 1991. Councils in Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester are understood to be considering similar schemes.
