At the moment DAF buys £27 million worth of its components in Britain but this is expected to rise to £35 million next year. This would more than treble the level of purchasing since 1983 and would represent 10% of the company's total purchasing for 1987.
Under a current agreement between the two companies DAF will be distributing vehicles derived from Leyland's Roadrunner and Sherpa ranges under the DAF badge and to DAF's specifications. This will have a marked effect on DAF's purchasing strategy in the UK.
More purchasing conferences are planned between DAF and UK component suppliers for 1987.
