Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Paclease, the truck leasing scheme operated by Paccar in the United States for many years, is to be introduced by Foden Trucks, the corporation's UK subsidiary.

Rod Heather, Foden's recently-appointed assistant managing director, said last week that the scheme would be tailored to compete with existing truck finance programmes in Britain.

It would include dealer-implemented contract hire and contract maintenance plans as well as pure finance leasing. Such a broad range of finance services is unprecedented from a UK truck manufacturer.

Recent forays into contract hire by manufacturers such as Volvo, have brought accusations from the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association that they have begun to compete with some of their more important customers.

Heather says that Foden's current and foreseeable future customer base includes few, if any, truck rental or contract hire concerns whose businesses could be threatened by competition from Paclease.
