Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Cadbury Schweppes is putting 40 new 16-tonners into service to distribute soft drinks from its depots in Southampton in the South to East Kilbride in Scotland. All the new vehicles are being contract hired from Ford and Slater at Leicester and they will replace owned, life-expired Leyland Boxers.

Thirty of the new chassis are MAN 16.170s, while ten are Leyland Freighter 1614s. This is the biggest single order for right-hand-drive 16.170s that Man has received since the model was introduced two-and-a-half years ago.

All the new Cadbury Schweppes 16 tonners have drive axle air suspension — a factory fitted option on the MANs and supplied by Terberg of the Netherlands for the Leylands.

Three bodybuilders, DonBur of Stoke-on-Trent, Peter Reeves of Birmingham, and Southfields Coachworks of Loughborough are supplying and fitting side-access bodies for the new vehicles. Alan Earthrowl of Cadbury Schweppes says that while in theory the Leyland Freighters will take a 10-tonne payload, when axle load tolerance is taken into account their nominal payload is reduced to 9.75 tonnes. The MAN's payload is about 0.5 tonne less.
