, ASTRONG second appeal on behalf of theComforts Funds of the Royal Army Service Corps and the Royal Army Ordnance Corps has been made by Mr. W. E. Rootes, President of the S.M.M. and T. As before, it is directed' to the motor and road-transport industries, from which the personnel of these two corps—the men who operate and repair the Army's motor vehicles—is so largely recruited. It also applies to the motoring community generally. The appeal is being backed by the issue of a striking brochure in colours, which includes illustrations of the men at their actual work and details of the Funds.
The winter months call for an ever-increasing supply of comforts, especially for men exposed to badweather conditions , and those in isolated d,istricts, and although the first appeal resulted in donations totalling £5,000 and many gifts in kind, the need for both is still urgent.
Gifts of money, which are particularly welcome, should be sent to the Honorary Treasurer, Lieut.-Colonel D. C. McLagan, D.S.O., M.B.E., la, Wilton Street, London, S.W.I, cheques being made payable to "Army Transport Comforts Fund," whilst parcels should be addressed to him, care of Comforts Fund, Kensington Palace Barracks, London, W.8.
No items of clothing other than Balaclava helmets, mittens and mufflers are required. Musical instruments are in great demand, and there are continual requests for books . and magazines, wireless sets, dart-boards, playing cards, writing materials, football outfits, meat extracts, cafe-au-lait, cocoa, etc., not only from units at home, but from those in Egypt, Palestine and other foreign stations..
