S0 that there might be consultations with other Traffic Commissioners, the North-Western Commissioners, on Monday, deferred their decisions in 13 applications concerning the taking over by W. C. Mr. W. Blackhurst explained that all the applications concerned a big scheme of co-ordination by Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., which held all the shares of W. C. Standerwick, Ltd. The latter held two-thirds of the shares of Bracewells and Woods, and the Ribble Company the other third4 The first object of the applications was that all the services should be merged, so as to be operated by the Standerwick company.

At present there were five services to London licensed to the three'corn.panies: Mr. Blackhurst asked that the advantages of each service should be embodied in, the licences of yv. C.

He included the London termini, Victoria and King's Cross coach stations, the grouping of picking-up facilities, the granting of the Ribble headquarters at Preston as an additional picking-up point, the retiming Of the Blackpool-Birmingham winter departure, and the dispensing with the necesSity of running the Blackpool-Blackburn section of 'the route if there were no passengers.

Mr. G. H. P. Beames (for the railway companies) objected to the Black-pool-Birmingham refining and the picking-up at the Ribble headquarters.

Mr. Blackhurst asked that the Com• rnissioners' decisions might be given as early as possible.

FOLLOWING the recent decision of the Traffic Commissioners to refuse the continuance of coupon tickets on

the Glasgow Balloch Helensburgh routes, appeals have been lodged by Bailie Bros., Ltd., and Clydebank Motors, Ltd.

BARTON'S SUCCESSFUL YEAR.

CONTR ACT and excursion business have again increased and extended tours have met with still further suecc,ss, says the annual report of Barton Transport, Ltd., the well-known independent concern. In the year to September 30 last, the gross revenue totalled £166,S.S3, compared with £146,331 a year earlier. The net profit amounted to £28,759, against £25.204 in 1934.

Stalybridge Corporation reports that the Joint Board is to seek power to operate trolleybuses on certain routes.
