• Kelvin Central Buses is buying another of its Glasgow-area competitors, John Morrow Coaches. KCB, a former Scottish Bus Group company, will take over Morrow's local bus services and many of its 31 vehicles.

• National Express might provide extra LondonBlackpool Rapide coaches, following British Rail's decision to withdraw its direct service next month. Currently, National Express operates four coaches a day on the Blackpool route.

▪ The Department of Transport says 13% fewer coaches visited central London last summer, compared with 1989. But it says the capital's first red routes are making bus services more attractive; 8.8% more passengers used London Buses route 43 in the last five months of 1991, compared with a 2.6% fall in business on other routes.
