• The arbitration service ACAS has been called-in to look for a solution to the industrial dispute at London Buses which this week led to a 24-hour strike by 14,700 workers. The strike was called in protest at London Buses' attempt to cut basic pay rates at Norbiton garage after LB successfully tendered for five routes. There are also industrial relations problems in Scotland where Scottish Bus Group is planning to sack 500 or its 5,500 staff before the end of the year in a cost cutting measure.
