Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Land Rover is dropping 12 models from its right-hand drive 4 x4 line-up, to reduce it from 28 basic models to 16.

According to Land Rover the rationalisation of its UK range at the end of this month will shorten delivery times for Land Rover customers and will also enable dealer stocks to more accurately represent the LR range.

The most notable deletion is the 51kW (68hp) naturallyaspirated 2.5-litre diesel engine. From September all diesel Land Rovers sold in the UK will come with the 63kW (85hp) turbocharged 2.5-litre diesel engine as standard, but the naturally aspirated engine will still be available on lefthand drive export models.

Other casualties include the base estate Land Rover (superseded by the County estate version) and all soft-top models.

The Solihull 4x4 builder has also decided to drop the shortwheelbase '90' Series vee-eight petrol-engined pickup and hardtop models, along with the vee-eight powered long

wheelbase 110 hardtop, and the 110 pickup with the straight-four 2.5-litre petrol engine. LR says that fleet customers may still be able to get hold of the deleted models through its special vehicle division. There are also some remaining in stocks of the obsolete models at LR dealers.

0 Land Rover is playing a key part in Rover Group's return to profitability. During the first half of this year LR increased its turnover from £220 million to £250 million and raised its operating profit from £4.6 million to £7.9 million.
