Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

USED CV sales were healthier in March than many dealers expected, says George Alexander, chief commercial vehicle editor at Glass's Guide.

'Whether it was the end of the financial year looming that bought out the customers, or a deeper sense of confidence in the health of the economy, the result was the same," he adds. "More encouragingly, this trend seems set to continue along a positive path, at least over the short term."

But tractor unit saes are being hit by the lack of clean, late-plate stock, he believes, and trailer sales are patchy too.

The good news is that tractors and trailers ripe for export are in demand. "We're seeing a lot of inquiries for second-hand tractor units from Cyprus," says Nigel Sharp, who heads used sales at Huddersfield and Barnsley Oaf dealership F&G Commercials.

Nor are they the only things disappearing overseas. Chris Hart of Blackrod, Boltonbased independent dealership Trucks2Go. reports: 'We're exporting all sorts of vehicles to the Ukraine, including Mercedes Varios."
