BEDFORD ASTRA vans built between August and November 1984 are being recalled to rectify possible weak welds in their rear axle assembly.
The recall effects some 7,200 Astra vans and estate cars produced during the four month period at Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port assembly plant.
Van owners will be contacted through their dealers according to a Vauxhall spokesman.
All vehicles recalled will be thoroughly examined by dealers. Where necessary, brakets on the Astra vans rear beam axle suspension mountings will be re-welded.
The rectification work will take between two to three hours. During investigations by Vauxhall/Bedford it has been found that welds on some of the brackets are not deep enough.
