COMPETITION from M25 is worrying British Rail, It has encouraged the board to seek to develop the West London line from Willesden to Clapham Junction to make Dover and other south-coast places readily accessible to trains from Scotland, the Midlands and the north of England.
It is suggested that Western Region trains could link into the West London route at Wormwood Scrubs. Residents at the Scrubs have suspended work on a tunnel to Spain until the outcome of BR's plans is known. As one of them confided: "If we liked work, we wouldn't be here."
