Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

s 'Strong Appeal.

THE new services offered by the Caledonian Princess . vehicle ferry . between Stranraer and Lame have been found to appeal to both hauliers and ancillary users, said Mr. A. Stewart, , general manager of the Caledonian • Steam Packet Co_ (Irish Services), Ltd., recently, when technical journalists were invited to' inspect the vessel under operational conditions.

Apart from the fact that vehicles from Britain could travel to Ulster. make deliveries, and return on the same day, the route had a special attraction in that the crossing could be made in daylight all the year round. They had a considerable car traffic in the summer but as commercial vehicles used the services all the year round the bookings were 'being regulated accordingly.

. Despite severe weather experienced since the vessel came into service on December 16, said Mr. Stewart,. timekeeping during the. period had achieved a high standard. . -

AS the ebarges-are based 'on weight (and not on overall' length), Writes a speciaf correspondent, this route makes a strong appeal to those handling bulky loads. The single rate, exclusive of driver's fare, for a weight of 45-50-cwt.

is 18s. 3d, and for weights of 4 tons 15 cwt. to 5 tons it is £l7 4s. The scale is graduated by 5 cwt. up to 30 tons. ai)
