EIGHTY-NINE Atlaritcan rear-engined double-deckers, 5.1 Leopard singledeckers (of which 44 are to be of the 36-ft.-long type) and 34 Titan doubledeckers are called for in chassis orders announced by Leyland Motors, Ltd.
The Portsmouth Passenger Transport Department have placed their first contract for the Atlantean model, calling for 30 chassis of this type, as well as a repeat order for seven Leopard LI 30-ft.-long single-deckers. The Northern General Transport Co., Ltd., have ordered a further 22 Atlanteans and 11 Leopard
PSU3.3 36-ft.-Iong single-deckers. Newcastle upon Tyne Corporation have placed a repeat order for 25 Atlanteans which will bring. their fleet of this model up to 77.
George Ewer and Co., Ltd., have ordered 26 Leopard 36-ft.-long models, and 18 similar vehicles are to go to E. Holden (Happiway Tours and Spencer's Coaches), of Manchester.
Other Atlantean orders have been placed by Sheffield Corporation (10 chassis) and Great Yarmouth Corporation (two chassis). Orders for Titans have been placed by Birkenhead Corporation (15 PD2.44 models), Southport Corporation (eight PD2.40) and Stockton Corporation (seven PD2.37). These are 27-ft. by 8-ft. models, the PD2.40 having vacuum brakes and the PD2.37 air brakes.
