Sir Patrick Hennessy, chairman of Ford of Britain, announced last week the following changes in the board of directors: Mr. C. Thacker has resigned as deputy chairman and managing director on reaching normal retirement age after 37 years service. He will remain a member of the board. Mr. .1. A. Barke has been appointed managing director (see " Personality of the Week," page 340). Mr. S. J. Elliott has resigned his directorship, having retired from executive duties a year ago on reaching retirement age. Mr. F. E. W. Hammond, on medical advice, has resigned as executive director and also from the board. Mr. A. J. Taylor, director of manufacture, and Mr. L. Crossland, director, supply and services staff, have been appointed to the board.
Mr. F. S. Brimelow, general manager of the Stalybridge, Hyde, Mossley and Dukinfield transport undertaking, has been appointed general manager of the Stockport undertaking, with whom he will take up his duties in July.
Mr. E. T. House, marketing equipment co-ordinator, Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd., has retired.
Mr. T. A. Blandford and Mr. S. J. Penny have been appointed joint assistant managing directors of Dagenham Motors, Ltd.
Mr. D. V. Stephens has been appointed development manager of Coras lompair Eireann with headquarters at KingsbrAge, Dublin.
Mr. Ben England, general manager of the Nottingham City Transport, Department for the past 13 years, is to retire at the end of this year.
Mr. J. E. Drinkwater has been appointed managing director of Tecalemit (Engineering), Ltd., subsidiary company of Tecalemit, Ltd., with effect from August 1.

Mr. N. D. Foster, company secretary, has been appointed a director of Alexander Duckham and Co., Ltd. Dr. V. Gripp has been appointed chief scientist in charge of development projects and Mr. I. Fenwick is now chief engineer responsible for engine tesi, transport and works services.
a30 Mr. E. L. Wiggins, home sales manager of the Eagle Engineering Co., Ltd., Warwick, is resigning at the end of this month to take up a _position in the catering trade.
Mr. D. A. Griffiths has been appointed resident representative of , the Grantham branch of Bowmaker, Ltd., and Mr. R. K. Proctor has been appointed manager of their Canterbury branch.
Mr. G. A. W. Crane has been appointed managing director of Cranes (Dereham), Ltd., the trailer and semi-trailer manufacturers of Dereham, Norfolk. Mr. L. H. Aliwood continues as chairman of the company. Mr. Crane, 54, eldest son of the founder of the business, has been joint executive director with his brother, Mr. J. L. B. Crane (sales), and Mr. W. Do Chaplin (works) since 1958. The appointment of a managing director is a new step by the company.
Brig. C. J. Tobin has been appointed chairman and managing director of the Burtonwood Engineering Co., Ltd., Warrington, Lancs. He succeeds Mr. J. Boardman, who has left to take up another appointment. Mr. Boardman also relinquishes the deputy chairmanship of U.S. Industries Inc. (Great Britain), Ltd., but remains on the board of that company. Brig. Tobin, who joined Burtonwood in 1961, was previously Director of Work Study at the War Office. He now also joins the board of U.S. Industries Inc. (Great Britain), Ltd. Mr. D. Giles is appointed to the board of Burtonwood Engineering in place of Mr. R. C. Shrubsole, whose -other appointments remain unchanged. B.R.S. announce the following appointments: Mr. J. F. Coulson, district manager, East Yorkshire district, and Mr. W. Plain, branch manager, Sheffield. Mr. Coulson was formerly branch manager at Sheffield and Mr. Pickin at Norwich.
Mr. A. G. Thurman, Avon's mileage supervisor for the North of England and Scotland, and Mr. H. J. Cullen, their mileage supervisor at the London Transport Executive, have retired. At a retirement ceremony at Melksham they were presented with cheques by the general sales manager, Mr. J. F. S wanbo rough.
The next Mayor of Oldham will be Councillor J. Shyne, chairman of the Passenger Transport Committee. The deputy mayor will be Aid. J. H. Broadbent, who is also a member of the Passenger Transport Committee..
Obituary
wx regret to record the deaths of VV Mr. W. H. Dickie, Mr. H. Firth and Mr. W. A. Heymann.
Mr. Dickie, who was in his early sixties, was chief engineer of the Central S.M.T. Co., Ltd., Motherwell, Lanarks.
Mr_ Firth, who was 64, was formerly transport manager of T. F. Firth, Ltd., and a director of Dudley Transport, Birstall.
Mr. Heymann, who was 38, was managing-director of J. and H. Transport Services (Peckham), Ltd., London, S.E.8, which firm he and Mr. F. A. Jenne founded in 1949. Mr. Heymann, who came to this country from Germany at the age of 11, was chairman of the London Division of the Institute of Traffic Administration.
