Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A PLAN TO stop lorries from overtaking on the Al2 looks likely to be shelved after the Highways Agency (HA) said it doubted how effective the proposal would be.

In July councillors in Essex voted in favour of a pilot ban on two lanes of the road between Marks Tey and the Boreham interchange.

County councillor Rodney Bass said he was "well aware of the frustrations felt by motorists from sitting behind a lorry".

For an overtaking trial ban to be introduced, a proposal must first be submitted to the HA. However, a spokeswoman for the agency said it had yet to receive any details.

She added: "We have previously investigated a lorry overtaking trial for the Al2, but due to the frequency of junctions we do not believe this would provide an effective method of reducing congestion."
