Ifilhe Hawk's look back at the golden age of steam has prompted Vectis Transport on the Isle of Wight to send this picture of a demountable belonging to removals firm Crouchers.
The vehicle is pictured at the island's capital, Newport — the year is unknown. Crouchers was eventually taken over by Pickfords which, according to Vectis, enjoyed a monopoly of the island's removals and parcels traffic until the formation of the Vectis Shipping Company — now renamed Vectis Transport. I bet not many of you knew that.
