• A bus war has broken out in Inverness, with more than a quarter of Highland Scottish drivers defecting to rival Inverness Traction.

Recently privatised Highland Scottish says it lost 40 of its 190

drivers, when it put forward a revised cost-cutting pay and conditions package.

But Stagecoach subsidiary IT says it has taken 90 drivers, which has virtually closed down its competitor's Tain depot.
