Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

clearance in France? Can 1 transport the necessary plant to France on the tippers which I would use there? All paper work such as carnets, insurance and so on have been taken care of. A It is difficult to advise you about the problems attendant upon a land Clearance contract in France because it is not possible to forecast the attitude of the French authorities to the possibility of cabotage.

Cabotage means picking up a load at one point and delivering it to a destination in the same country. To fill a tipper with spoil, transport it to a tip and deposit it might well be considered cabotage and this is not allowed under current transport agreements.

There seems to be no reason why plant should not be carried on the tippers, however, providing this does not involve overloading. An inquiry about the contract addressed to the Secretariate d'Etat aux Transports, 244 Boulevard St Germain, Paris VIIe, might solve the difficulty. The telephone number is Paris 325 2463.
