Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

total capacity of 234 cubic yds. has recently been built up on an A.E.C. 14-ft. 6i-in. wheelbase . eight-wheeled Mammoth Major chassis, making a particularly interesting type of non-standard vehicle. This vehicle is equipped with 14-ton capacity power-operated end-tipping gear with twin underbody ram, the drive being run from the usual power take-off on the gearbox to one of the high-pressure oil' pumps and oil containers. The manufacturers are Messrs. Bromilow • and Edwards, Foundry Street, Bolton.

Twin ram assemblies are housed in a substantial cradle on the chassis frame members, the rams being of the triple telescopic type so as to give the necessary tipping angle; a robust hinge bar and bracket are mounted at the rear end of the chassis.

The triangular type of stabilizing gear is incorporated and, whereas the body is pivoted on the hinge bar, the stabilizer pivots near the base of the hydraulic rams. In order to allow for the different radii, a sliding shoe is mounted at the front end of the stabilizer where it makes contact with the body frame and this compensates fo: the different paths of the radii.

The timber body, which is mounted MI a steel sub-frame, has internal dimtntions of 18 ft. by 7 ft. by 4 ft. 6 ins., giving a struck capacity of 21 tuhic yds., but by the addition of plain 6 in. detachable extension boards, the pc ssible load has been increased to 234 cubic yds.

Reinforced with rolled sections and hinged at the top, the tail door has a .positive fastening device in the form of a heavy bar that passes transversely across the rail.. This bar carries four cams which overlap the vertical stiffeners of the door. Each of the four cams is set at a slight angle to the next so that when the driver closes the

door the first cam is held in tension while the other cams are coming into operation,, the gudgeon and cotters securing the bar when the dotal is closed.

Because of the types of load that will be carried the entire interior of the body has been steel lined.
