• The Liverpool region of the Transport and General Workers Union has submitted its 1990 pay claim to the Road Haulage Association.
It is almost identical to the claims made by the Metropolitan and South-East area Joint industrial Council (CM 5-11 October).
The Scottish region meets the RHA today (Thursday) to discuss its 1990 pay claim (CM 7-13 September), and the Irish region will be meeting in November for negotiations.
O Most transport companies will be employing fewer staff in the three months ending 30 December 1989, according to the latest quarterly Survey of Employent Prospects from Overdrive's parent company Manpower.
Companies planning to reduce staff levels in the next three months increased from seven to 11%.
