ASP Crowthers

Arms-based Livestock Haul age has appealed against the revocation of its Operators Licence.

The company lost its national licence for eight vehicles and six trailers when it failed to appear at disciplinary proceedings in Birmingham (CM 7-13 September). It had been called before West Midland Licensing Authority John Mervyn Pugh because of a number of convictions, and doubts over the location of its operating centre.

Previous disciplinary pro ceedings involving Crowthers, and the associated W Burgoyne & Sons, were adjourned in 1987 after the LA was told that, though the two companies had been evicted from their operating centre because of the sale of the site, they were expecting the new owners to allow them to return.

An application by Majorie Burgoyne, to take over the W Burgoyne & Sons licence, was refused and that licence was not renewed.

Mervyn Pugh has directed that his decision not take effect until the appeal has been determined by the tribunal.
