Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Hays subsidiary Data Express, the specialist overnight delivery service, has bought the South-East regional carrier Parcel Link.

The acquisition gives Data Express two new depots in Luton and Camberley with additional resources from Parcel Link's Strood depot, which merges with the existing Data Express depot in Dartford to form a national network of 16 depots.

Its national commercial fleet now numbers 175 vehicles.

The joint operation boosted parcel deliveries in the last week of September to 61,600, compared with Data Express's previous average of 50,000. Customers include cinemas, and the hi-tech, printing, stationery and cosmetics industries.

Data Express's turnover for the year to June 1989 was £9.1 million; Parcel Link turned over V. 5m for the year to July. "As well as the increase in parcels carried, the acquisition also increases Data Express's specialisation in the UK cinema industry," says managing director Cohn Lewis.

Parcel Link director John Palmer joins Data Express as business development manager, where he is responsible for the development of all Data Express business.
