TOYOTA will reinforce its UK light commercial vehicle range early in 1986 with the Lite-Ace compact van.
The 1.86-tonne GVW LiteAce is already sold in Europe, and will be launched in Britain around February or March.
CM expects models to be fitted initially with a 1.6-litre petrol engine as standard, although a 1.8-litre diesel version could become available later.
The Lite-Ace, with a payload of around 81.101(g, will help boost the flagging sales of Toyota's larger Ili-Ace van range, hit by the introduction of Bedford's forward control Midi van.
Right-hand-drive Lite-Ace models are undergoing type approval. The Japanese-built range has been revised specifically for the UK market, and will give Toyota a small van to compete against Nissan's soon-to-he-launched Vanette compact model (CM, October 5).
One Toyota model not to be carried over to 1986, is the automatic version of its Land Cruiser 4 x 4.
