FROM the start of 1986, all Nissan Patrol 4X4 models sold in Britain will be built by Motor lberica in Spain, rather than by Nissan in Japan.
The move will allow Nissan UK to claim EEC sourcing on its four-wheel-drive range, thereby avoiding the voluntary import quota currently operating on its Japanese-built light commercials and cars. The Patrol is available with a choice of 2.8-litre petrol or Nissan's own 3.3-litre diesel engine and now comes fitted with a heated rear window and rear tailgate wash/wipe as standard.
Two models — estate and hard top — are offered.
Nissan owns 84 per cent of Motor lberica, which also produces the Ebro light truck and van range sold in the UK.
