• Wincanton's transport division has placed orders with Fruehauf for £1.1m worth of tri-axled bottom-loading petroleum tankers to join its Tesco delivery fleet.
The six-compartment aluminium alloy semis will run at 38 tonnes GCW. Five are capable of carrying 38,000 litres; 16 can take 36,000 litres. They all have anti-lock braking linked to load sensing.
Fruehauf has also supplied Argos with £300,000 worth of trailers, including six 7.32m, 2.28m-wide single-mded units with 1.2m deck heights. They couple to modified Mercedes 1114 urban tractive units with low-height fifth wheels to provide easier loading and unloading.
