• Remould manufacturer Colway Tyres of Durham has changed its vehicle livery to commemorate its 25th anniversary. Two Seddon Atkinson 325 Strato sleeper-cab tractors, powered by Cummins 10-litre engines, are the first two vehicles in the fleet to get the new look; they will be followed by a new Strato 210 17-tonner.
Colway uses the vehicles for collecting four million worn casings and delivering more than a million remould tyres each year. Reject casings are recycled into rubber crumb used in carpet underlay. Making a remould is claimed to use 18 litres less oil than the manufacture of a new tyre.
Seddon Atkinson has appointed BS Russel Commercials of Maidstone as its third Kent parts and service dealer. The company will become a main distributor when an improvement in the market permits the investment required. Furrow Commercial vehicles of Shrewsbury has also been appointed a parts and service main dealer for Seddon Atkinson.
