• A 26-tonne-plated 6x2 is to join Renault's Maxter range of multi-wheelers in the UK.
Because its drive axle will be plated at more than 9.5 tonnes for traction reasons, roadfriendly air suspension will be needed to quality for operation at the higher gross weight allowable from 1 January.
As the single-drive Maxter six-wheeler is intended mainly for on-road rather than tipper or mixer work, it will have wheelbases which qualify for 26 tonne operation.
