The six new additions to the Iveco Ford Truck's line-up are on show at Glasgow comprising three new 38-tonne tractive units, a lightweight 6x4 rigid chassis and several models from further down the rigid range. Heading the group are the twin-steer Iveco 220.36 and the 4x2 190.36 tractive units, both fitted with the chargecooled 8210.42 engine, as used in the TurboStar, which replaces the 283kW vee-eight unit.
Although the in-line six' has slightly less power, its maximum torque of 1,766Nm at only 1,000rpm is 3% higher than that of the vee-eight. These new '36' models use the established TEC cab, a narrower unit than the full-width high-specification TurboStar cab. The Cargo range is strengthened by the inclusion of a Cummins LTA10-290engined 3828 6x2 tractive unit.
A 'pet-reg' 4x2 version, engineered by IFrs Special Vehicle Operation at Langley is also on show. Hendrickson Norde rubber suspension is a new option on Iveco Ford Cargo sixwheeled rigids.
Iveco Ford's new 2421 6x4 chassis is fitted with the Cummins C-series turbocharges 8.3-litre engine, an example of which is on display. The 2421 has the Eaton RT11609 ninespeed gearbox and Eaton double-drive bogie on the HN rubber suspension.
A new family of 12-tonne rigids is intended to take advantage of the break points in the rates of vehicle excise duty, especially when used with trailers up to 4 tonnes.
