Japan. The mid-engined chassis are to be imported by the Mitsui Company, and bodied by Fuji Industries, with both companies co-operating on distribution.
The first BlOM with a 12-metre super-high-deck body, has already been bought by an independent operator, and Volvo Bus says it is aiming to sell up to 50 chassis during the first full year.
The launch of the BlOM in Japan follows the successful operation of 100 three-zode Volvo Coaches, also bodied by Fuji, at the World Fair held at Tsukuba in 1985.
