reached agreement in principle to purchase Allied Van Line, the largest interstate removals company in the USA.
Completion of the acquisition will see the union of Europe's largest business and household removals company — Pickfords Removals — with the leading US removals company, thus creating a fully integrated worldwide removals network. Allied, based in Chicago, has a turnover of nearly $600rnillion and a network of 790 agents.
The acquisition is subject to the satisfaction of conditions and will be voted upon by Allied's stockholders at a meeting in early 1988.
