Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

vehicles registered in Great Britain show that freight traffic in 1975 increased by two per cent. Tonnage lifted fell by one per cent. Both these changes show the continuation of general trends of the past few years.

Average length of haul, however, increased by three per cent.

Movements_ by heavier vehicles and over longer distances continued to increase substantially while movements by lighter vehicles and , over shorter distances continued to decrease. Changes No-ranged from an increase of 16 per cent on 1974 for vehicles over 28 tons to a decrease of 25 per cent for vehicles from 31/2 to 51/2 tons.

The length of haul analysis shows that goods moved between 150 and 200 miles increased by 23 per cent while goods moved less than 25 miles decreased by 10 per cent.

There was a 47 per cent decrease in the movement of crude materials but an increase of 11 per cent in crude minerals — the largest group, -representing 25 per cent of the total.

The average length of haul for public haulage has increased from about 58km in 1965 to 72km in 1975. Corresponding figures for own account vehicles show an increase from 43km to 48km.
