Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ONE of the largest buildings in Britain to be devoted to the reception, storage and supply of spare parts was opened at Southall on November 5 by the chairman of Associated Commercial Vehicles, Ltd., Lord Brabazon.

Covering 58,000 sq. ft., the building has cost more than £250,000 to construct and equip. The site was once a 60-ft. deep sand pit which has gradually been filled, bat after levelling it off,

some 250 concrete piles were driven in to 'a depth of up to 40 ft.

it is a single-storey main unit with a double-storey block for offices, which adds a further 18,000 sq. ft. The ground floor is of 8-in. reinforced concrete, with a 2-in. granolithic surface that can support 5 tons per sq. ft.

Two loading bays are built as wings, thus giving a clear area for the stores activities within the building, which is of steel-framed construction faced with red brick.

Under the stone-canopied main entrance are a reception office and double bronze-framed glass doors opening into the main entrance hall.

Special Bins The main binning is of particular interest. It was constructed to A.E.C. design, and supplied by the Steel Equipment Co., Ltd., West Bromwich. It is built to a standard height of 10 ft. 3 in., but all sections are of such strength as to be able to support additional bins above, mounted upon extruded metal flooring, giving a further height of 6 ft. in view of possible future expansion.

The shelves and vertical dividers are mostly adjustable, the former at 2-in. steps. Considerable use is made of mobile sliding-bin units which can turn to account every available part of the floor space and yet afford excellent accessibility to all parts.

Transport within the store is by handtrucks and battery-electric pedestriansteered trucks, whilst external transport by Brush battery-electries.

Heating is attended to by a new medium-pressure steam main from the boiler-house one-third of a mile away.
