MR. V. W. PILKINGTON and DR. C. G. WILLIAMS have been elected vicechairmen of the Automobile Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Williams is director of research for the Shell concern in this country. From 1923-30 he was a research engineer on the staff of the first co-operative research association formed for the motor industry. This later became the research department of the Institution of Automobile Engineers, of which Dr. Williams became director of research in 1934. He was responsible for the acquisition of the laboratories at Brentford. Mr. Pilkington is a director and chief engineer of Leyland Motors, Ltd.
