Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

At .the Meeting of the East London Hauliers' Association addressed, last week, by S.T.R., The Commercial Motor costs expert, the chairman,. Mr. Eric Taylor, made the interesting announcement that The Commercial Motor Tables of Operating Costs had been used by the Association in support of arguments which it was bringing to bear on West Ham Corporation to show that the haulage rates being paid by that body were insufficient. • It appears likely that, as the result of the efforts of this Association: some improvement in those rates will accrue.

S.T.R.'s address was heard by an intensely interested audience and was followed by keen discussion. The chairman, in his concluding remarks, reminded those present that articles dealing with the subject of that evening's address appeared regularly each week in The Commercial Motor, which he regarded as being the best threepennyworth of its kind that was available.

Increased Rates for All.

It should be made clear that the increased rates secured by the C.M.U.A. for haulage on behalf of the Post Office during the Christmas peak period, apply to all operators and not only to members of that Association.. A misstatement in The Commercial Motor dated October 29 resulted from a misunderstanding on the part of one of the members of the C,M.U.A.
