Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Teihibits an this stand allow RE 1 variations of the well-known Star Flyer chassis, which include one entirely new model, a six-cylinderengined, low-loading 21-ton goods -chassis, priced at £545. This particular chassis, with a 14-ft. 2-in, wheelbase, has a specification closely resembling that of the VB3-type Flyer chassis. It is equipped with 34-in. by 7-in. pneumatic tyres all round, powerful brakes acting in the rear drums, a gravity-fed petrol tank and a 12-volt lighting set only—as distinct from the completely equipped Flyer chassis, which includes a starter motor as well ; this instrument, however, can be obtained by payment of an extra charge of £8.

The six-cylindered power unit is the same as that included in the other models of the range. With bore and stroke, dimensions of 80 mm. and 120 ram. respectively (3,620 c.c.) the rating works out at 23.8 h.p. The unit has particularly clean lines, embracing an aluminium crankcase of very rigid construction With seven hearings for both the crankshaft and the camshaft, a separate, deep cylinder block and a detachable cylinder head, carrying vertically disposed overhead valves, which are operated from a camshaft contained within the crankcase by push. rods and rockers.

Lubrication is effected by a submerged gear pump. It supplies the • crankshaft main journals and the bigend bearings, all the connecting rods, the accessory drive-shaft bearings and' the valve gear, with oil, under pressure. Aluminium pistons of special design to compensate for expansion are used in eon junction with duralumin connectingrods and all are machined to a standard weight.

A twin dry-plate clutch, requiring light operating pressures only, transmits the power through a four-speed-andreverse gearbox to a fully floating spiral-bevel rear axle, by means of a two-stage open propeller -shaft. Semielliptic springs are used to suspend the axles, and on the normal Flyer chassis a comprehensive braking system is included, the pedal applying shoes within drums attached to all four wheels, whilst the lever operates further internal-expanding shoes in the rear driims only. One of the features of the goods chassis is that the loaded height of the frame is but 211 ins., which, for a freight chassis, is distinctly low.

Attention is drawn to a horsebox with a capacity for two animals which, although roomy, has particularly nice lines. The passenger vehicles are also of good appearance and are well finished in first-classmaterials. A Comprehensive road performance is assured by a four-speed gearbox having wellchosen ratios.
