TMPORTANCE attaches to the fact "that since the previous Commercial Motor Show, held at Olympia at the end of 1927, a separate company has been formed under the title Reo 41otors (Britain), Ltd., with the object of marketing here the flee motorcars and commercial vehicles. The new company has got together a dealer organization and has several interesting models to offer.

One that is attracting much attention as the Show progresses is the 30-cwt. goods chassis, this being now offered at the low price of £298. It is available in two wheelbase lengths, namely, 10 ft. 7 ins. (DA model) and 11 ft. 6 ins. (DC model), the former type being' the • one shown, it has a six-cylindered engine of 34-in, bore and 4-in, stroke, this developing 60 b.h.p. at 2.800 r.p.m. The valves are located at the side and the crankshaft has seven main bearings. There is a gear-driven oil pump supplying main and connecting-rod bearings. The clutch is of the single-plate kind, the gearbox providing three forward Speeds and reverse. The semi-floating driving axle has a ratio of 5.2 to 1, the drive being by spiral-bevel pinion. Torque and drive are taken by the semi-elliptie, rear springs, which are 4 ft. 2 ins, in length. Tyres of 32-in. by 6-in. section are fitted and the braking. is hydraulic, acting on all four wheels. There is a hand-operated

1140 brake located on the transmission shaft.

The next larger model is the FEtype two-tonner, the wheelbase of which is 12 ft. 8 ins. This has the well-known Gold Crown engine—a sixeylindered unit of 3i-in, bore and 5-in. stroke, which develops 6'7 b.h.p. at 2,800 r.p.m. Like the Junior model, it is of the side-valve type and has seven main bearings, these, as well as the connecting-row and camshaft bearings, being pressure-lubricated by means of

a gear-type oil pump. The single-plate clutch and four-speed gearbox form a unit with the engine, the drive being transmitted to the rear axle. through an exposed propeller shaft and spiral-bevel gearing. Hydraulic four-wheel braking is supplemented by a transmission brake located just behind the gearbox. The two other chassis on display are the FD 2i-tonner, which has a 14-ft. wheelbase and twin rear tyres, and the GE model 26-seater bus chassis, the wheelbase of which is 14 ft. 11 ins. This machine has 82-in. by 6-in. tyres, with twin tyres on the rear wheels, and it is designed to meet the requirements of Scotland Yard, It should be made clear that the passenger modes, as well as all the goods models of a capacity exceeding 30 cwt., embody the Gold Crown engine and, resemble each other in transmission and braking arrangements.

Three complete vehicles are also to he seen, two incorporating the GE-type chassis and one the FB model. On the GE-type are shown a 26-seater allweather coach with bodywork by Wray's Motor and Body Co., Ltd., of London, and a 20-seater coach, also with sliding head,' the body in this ease 'being by H. Norman Pitt and Co., of Amesbury. On the FR chassis is seen a 20-seater service-bus body, built by H. E. Taylor and Co., Ltd., of Cringleford.
