T OADS from 50 cwt. to 10 tons can be carriedor hauled by the Latil models exhibited on this stand.
Owing to space restrictions it is not possible to group on the stand all the models in the range. ACtually the smallest machine is the type for 4050 cwt. pay-loads, whilst the largest one is a 10-ton four-wheel-drive tractor.
A hinge-sided lorry is mounted upon
KB2-type 2-2i-ton Latil chassis. The engine, in this case, is of 20 h.p. and drives a four-speed gearbox. The front tyres are 36' ins. by 6 ins., whilst those on the rear wheels are 38 ins. by 7 ins. A transmission brake is operated by pedal and the rear-wheel brakes are of the internal-expanding type operated by a hand lever. In the form shown the price is £620.
Front-wheel drive is used for the NP511L model 5-ton low-loader. Its design permits a perfectly flat loading platform without protruding wheel-arches. The engine is of 27.3 h.p., the gearbox provides four forward speeds, and the transmission to the front wheels is by universally jointed shafts; 34-in. by 7-in. Pneumatic tyres are fitted to the front wheels, whilst those on the rear wheels are 24-in. by 5-in.
An interesting innovation in connection with the Nr5rA, is a four-wheeled bogie which can be fitted to the rear of the vehicle in lieu of the two-wheeled axle supplied as standard.
.A four-wheel-drive 5-tanner is shown. An interesting machine is the 5-ton B2T-type tractor and trailer, with automatic and instantaneous coupling and 'automatic braking operated by the overrun of the trailer. The Treasury rating of the engine is 17.9 h.p. and it drives the rear wheels of the tractor through a four-speed gearbox. In the form shown the machine costs £800.
One of the 10-ton tractors is on view. This is equipped for road-haulage duty and has a body for holding ballast and tackle. The drive is taken to all four wheels, which also are movable for steering purposes. The four-cylindered engine is of 20 h.p. and the gearbox provides six forward ratios ; the box houses a main and an auxiliary set of gears.
A B5 six-tanner of normal chassis height is shown in the form of an express lorry. It has a 27.3 h.p. fourcylindered engine. The pedal-operated braking set works in a drum on the transmission and the front wheels, in the latter case being operated by a Westinghouse servo device. Compensated brakes work in drums on the rear wheels.
Another variety of this model is a low-loading express van.
